What is National Night Out?
Established in 1984, National Night Out is an annual, community-building campaign and event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.
Portsmouth has participated in National Night Out nearly every year since its inception. In 2022 our event placed 7th in the nation and 2nd in Virginia – and this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever!
